In addition to its vast range of nearly 360 colors, Japanese Copic markers appeal to every fan with their four varieties:

Copic Ciao

Ciao is Copic’s budget-friendly line of markers, designed for those who want to enjoy all the benefits of the brand in a more compact and affordable format.

The collection consists of 180 colors, presented in a simpler design. Specifically, it brings together the colors from the full Copic palette that are easiest to blend. They are combined into mini-themed sets of three, suitable for mixing: Layer & Mix.

Chao markershave a smaller capacity but make no compromises in manufacturing quality. They feature a slimmer, round barrel. They feature a large brush tip on one end and a medium-width chisel tip on the other, both of which are replaceable. One ink refill is enough to refill a single Ciao marker a full 9 times.

This series is a great choice for beginners, students, and hobbyists. It gives everyone the chance to try out this medium without having to invest in expensive sets. The sets of 3 markers are great both for experimenting and for building up a collection of useful colors.

Copic Sketch

Copic Sketch is the most popular series of Copic markers, favored by a wide range of artists, designers, and illustrators. Featuring an ergonomic oval barrel, they are the only ones available in all 358 colors of the range.

Similar shades ensure the smoothest possible transition. The replaceable nibs also contribute to this: the medium-width flat tip quickly fills with color, leaving jagged lines as the angle changes, and the soft, non-shedding brush responds to the pressure of the hand and is used for details. Because of its larger capacity, one ink refill is enough for 7 refills of a single Sketch marker.

Copic Classic

Copic Classic features the legendary double-ended design that popularized alcohol-based markers in the 1980s. Used primarily by designers and architects, the Classic features a wide, angled tip for coloring large areas and a firm, rounded tip for precise lines and writing. They feature a square-section barrel that’s convenient for storage and organization. They’re available in 214 colors. One ink refill is enough for 5 refills of a single Classic marker.

Copic Wide

Among the existing varieties of Copic markers, we should also mention the Copic Wide. This is the marker with the widest tip (2.1 cm) and the largest ink capacity, used primarily for quickly coloring large areas, applying backgrounds, and calligraphy. The Wide is available empty with the option to fill it with the color of your choice. One bottle of ink is enough for about 3.5 refills of the jumbo marker.
