It is with great joy and excitement that we are expanding our lineup of favorite acrylic markers with 24 rich colors from Copic’s brand-new series, Acrea.
Acrea were created to be compatible with the original Copic markers. Alcohol-based markers take some getting used to and practice, and their advantages are limited. That’s exactly where Acrea comes in, broadening our creative horizons: they offer rich colors that adhere to more than just paper and are perfect for absolutely anyone who enjoys drawing.
The name Acrea
It comes from the combination of the words ” aqua ” (since the ink is water-based) and ” create.”
Acrea captivates with its stylish design,
Designed with a lightweight body for a comfortable grip and line control. The markers are waterproof and can be used not only on paper but also on stone, wood, glass, metal, plastic, and fabric. The pen features a universal tip width of 0.8 mm (up to 1.2 mm with pressure), making it practical for both writing and drawing. The colors apply smoothly, with a continuous flow of ink, without bleeding through to the back of the page. The ink is odorless, non-toxic, and relatively resistant to fading and discoloration.

Featuring light pastel tones, rich dark shades, black and pure white for outlines and accents, as well as two metallic shades in gold and silver for special effects. The debut palette is well-balanced enough to be used for painting a variety of subjects.
They can be combined
Acreacan be used on their own or to highlight the ethereal alcohol-based colors of Copic, for example. Thanks to their formula, Acrea markers do not react when applied over colors with different bases. On the other hand, Acrea is not resistant to Copic alcohol-based ink.
How do we get started?
Acrea are activated in the familiar way by shaking and pumping the tip. Press the nib against the paper; as it retracts, it is saturated with ink. Avoid pressing down repeatedly or too hard to prevent accidental ink leakage. When you’re done drawing , close the cap until it clicks, and store the marker horizontally. Shaking it regularly before use ensures even color and ink flow.
Our Impressions of Acrea
It’s always a pleasure to see for yourself the quality of a product in person, as was the case when we tested Acrea:
- When you try them out for the first time, you can really feel how light the markers’ bodies are.
- If we look closely at a cross-section of the pen, we can see that it consists of microscopic plastic tubes, the openings of which allow the ink to flow through. A single press is all it takes to produce a continuous flow of ink.
- The cap closes very securely with a loud, distinct click.
- Pleasant, rich shades have been selected for the colors. Whether light or dark, they provide good coverage over the surface they are applied to.
- The markers leave a juicy line that takes 1–2 minutes to dry completely. The mark remains almost imperceptibly raised and slightly textured.
- One thing that surprised us was how durable Acrea markers are on non-absorbent surfaces. Our test on glass (even uncleaned glass) showed just how much harder they actually are to wipe off compared to other types of acrylic markers.
