The brown air-dry clay by the German manufacturer Knorr Prandell hardens when exposed to air, without the need to be fired or baked. It is made from shredded paper pulp and desiccant.
It is widely used for modelling, sculpting, the making of jewellery, baby handprints and footprints, toys and dolls.
How to use air drying clay:
The required amount is cut off and is modelled with damp wands. Once the object is ready it is placed in a well-ventilated place to dry. Usually 1 cm thick items dry in 24 hours. The remainder can be stored in an air-tight bag in a cool place.
Suitable for adults and children over 3 years old.
Clay objects are waterproof only after varnish has been applied. Air-dry clay is not suitable for making functioning kitchenware, utensils, vases, flower pots, or wax containers for candles.
The clay can be coloured with felt-tip pens, markers, gouache and acrylic paints.
