Talens 107 is a matte, colorless varnish for protecting paintings created with gouache and tempera.
The nail polish dries within a few hours after application, forming a water-resistant layer.
It protects the painting from dirt without showing signs of yellowing as it ages.
Ingredients: synthetic resin dissolved in white spirit. Highly flammable.
Application and Effect:
- The advantage of liquid gouache is that it self-levels on the surface when applied
- To ensure it dries completely even, shake the matte varnish thoroughly before use
- It’s best to apply just one generous swipe
- A soft, flat synthetic brush can be used for application
- Since the varnish is applied in stages, it is possible to follow the original brushstrokes of the painting, especially if they are more pronounced
- The matte varnish preserves the velvety finish characteristic of tempera paints
- The brushes and work surface should be cleaned with rubbing alcohol or another similar solvent.
