Patented in 1925, the oil pastels from the Japanese manufacturer Sakura stand out for their rich colors, creamy texture, and the ease with which they can be applied and layered.
The Expressionist set includes 36 non-toxic colored pastels, each 71 mm long and 10 mm in diameter, suitable for use not only on paper but also on canvas, wood, and stone with various textures.
Their composition and form allow for experimentation with various techniques, such as layering and scraping, embossing, melting by heating, and liquefying with a solvent, for example.
Oil pastels are traditionally considered among the most widely available and portable drawing media and are suitable for both quick sketching and rendering detailed portraits, landscapes, and still lifes.
