Metal pliers, ideal for stretching large canvases, with a 12 cm-long clamp.
The rubberized clamp prevents slipping or leaving marks on the fabric, and the return spring brings the red rubberized handles back to their original position after they are squeezed.
Canvas-stretching pliers are essential for evenly and easily stretching primed, unprimed, or already painted canvas onto a stretcher frame. Stretching canvas at home is a good way for regular painters, as well as art students, to save money.
The tool facilitates the proper stretching of the canvas, which requires the fabric’s threads to be parallel to the sides of the wooden slats. With its help , the worker can stretch the fabric with one hand and secure it to the wood with a staple gun in the other, resulting in a uniformly stretched work surface.
As a rule, stretching begins at the center of each side (i.e., it is first stretched diagonally) and continues toward the corners of the assembled subframe, alternating between opposite sides. If necessary, the tension can be increased using wooden wedges on the back.
