It comes in granules and is soaked in water for several hours, after which it is melted in a water bath at a low temperature (57 °C) until it dissolves completely in the water. The glue absorbs a lot of water and increases in volume many times over. When warm, it has a liquid consistency and can be applied in a very thin layer. It gels as it cools.
